MISSION ACCOMPLISHED FOR PIERRE RAGUES IN NÜRBURGRING TEST
Pierre Ragues enjoyed a successful two-day test with Team SARD Morand at Germany’s Nürburgring circuit this week ahead of the six-hour race that is scheduled to take place at the end of August - round four of the 2015 FIA World Endurance Championship (WEC).
Inclement weather affected running on the opening day with unseasonal rain showers leaving the track wet for most of the day. Pierre carried out some dry runs in the mid-afternoon before the rain returned. Taking satisfaction from the opportunity to complete a dry run, the team worked on set-up of its #43 Morgan Evo Sard, as well as aero analysis.
Even the wet conditions proved useful with the team looking at the car set-up on the damp track. Track activity resumed on Tuesday morning with dry conditions, although a number of red flags proved disruptive. However, Pierre took to the track at the end of the morning with new tyres and a good long run to complete the team’s preparations for the 6 Hours of Nürburgring.
In total, the team amassed 218 laps of the track over the two days with Pierre totalling 72 laps.
Pierre commented: “It was nice to enjoy a bit of WEC atmosphere at the two-day Nürburgring test this week, especially with the track open to spectators. There were a good number of cars and although the weather on the first day was quite wet, we were able to complete some important laps with the Morgan Evo Sard in preparation for the race at the end of next month. I got some decent running in the dry, too, both on Monday afternoon and again on Tuesday morning, which allowed us to complete our planned programme without any trouble. I was certainly happy with the car and I am hopeful for the race.”
