PIERRE CAMPANA SET FOR SENSATIONAL WRC RETURN AT CORSICA Photo News
Rally driver Pierre Campana is ready to make his return to the world of competitive of rallying next weekend with an exciting entry into the World Rally Championship in Corsica – a home event for the 30-year-old.

Campana made a positive impact in the competitive rally world a few years ago, as part of the prestigious Equipe de France.  He was part of the François Padrona managed Drive-Pro team, driving a MINI WRC and taking his first WRC points in Rallye de France in 2011.

With several high profile performances, he was promoted as one of the sport’s rising stars and will now look to remind people of his talent with a fantastic comeback in Corsica.

His last competitive outing was in the San Remo rally 2012 but the Corsican has kept his driving skills sharp as he makes a welcome return to action. He will get behind the wheel of a Michelin shod Citröen DS3 R3-Max with the CHL Sport Auto team this weekend with a test on Sunday ahead of the rally itself next week.

It will be WRC’s big return to Corsica after many years, so Pierre will be hoping to put his local knowledge and past results – including a podium at the 2012 Tour de Corse – to his advantage.

His co-driver will be Dominique Savignoni, a highly experienced co-driver, who will surely help Campana ease back into the challenges of a World Rally event.

Pierre Campana said: “I am thrilled to be back behind the wheel of a WRC machine and cannot wait to once again taste the excitement and thrill of a competitive rally event. I must firstly thank my partners who have made this possible and to say that I am very excited to be making my return with the CHL Sport Auto team with whom I will drive for the first time. I have a test this Sunday with the team and my co-driver Dominique so we can get up to speed before the rally starts. This is a very important moment for me, as it has been a few years since I’ve rallied at this level. I am confident that I’ll find my feet quickly and hopefully regain some of the performance I showed in the past.  It’s going to be a nice challenge, for sure, but one which is very special to me, not only because it’s my comeback but because it’s a home rally for me, which always gives it a great atmosphere.”
