PIERRE RAGUES BUOYED BY SENSATIONAL SILVERSTONE PODIUM
Pierre Ragues has been boosted by the performances of the G-Drive by Signatech-Nissan team in the last two World Endurance Series races, having followed up a fantastic fourth place in class at the Le Mans 24 Hours with an impressive podium result at Silverstone just over a week ago.
The G-Drive team represent the second car for Signatech-Nissan in WEC but only joined the series at the second round at Spa. In just three events, the #26 car has demonstrated competitive pace and the team has quickly become regular podium challengers. Pierre will be hoping that trend continues as the series enters the second half of the season.
Quick Q+A with Pierre Ragues
Pierre, you must be pleased with the results that G-Drive by Signatech-Nissan has achieved so far?
“I have been really happy with how the season has unfolded so far. We had a good result at Le Mans with fourth place in LMP2 and Silverstone was a really positive team performance to finish on the podium. We started from 13th in class on the grid and used an excellent race strategy and brilliant teamwork to make our way continually up the field to take the podium place.”
How did the race weekend go from your point of view?
“It was generally a trouble-free weekend. We had a good start in practice on Friday and the morning session on Saturday went according to plan. There was a rain shower after Saturday practice which left the track damp for the start of the qualifying. We were prepared for this sort of situation because the weather can sometimes be like this at Silverstone but unfortunately I couldn’t put a clean lap together on my qualifying run which left us down the field. I was determined to make up for this during my early stints in the race and I had a great start to get up to seventh place in LMP2. Roman and Nelson both did a great job to continue making up places and the result was a well-earned third place.”
Will this give you a boost for the rest of the season?
“When you get good results, it definitely helps to lift team spirits. We are now at the halfway point of the season and have some exciting races to come, starting with Brazil in a few weeks. I am looking forward to continuing the run of results that we have had recently. We have great support from the team, from Nissan and from our partners, so I am confident that we can keep delivering positive results.”
