FRANCK MAILLEUX SET TO START SILVERSTONE FROM SOLID SIXTH
Signatech-Nissan driver Franck Mailleux will start this afternoon’s 6 Hours of Silverstone from sixth place in LMP2 class after a trouble-free qualifying session on Saturday afternoon.
Franck and the team have enjoyed a generally positive Silverstone weekend so far with some competitive runs in free practice.
The Signatech-Nissan Oreca 03 has delivered encouraging pace around the challenging Silverstone circuit as the team accumulated 27 laps in Friday’s opening practice session and an impressive 42 in the second session.
Franck was nominated to qualify the #23 car on Saturday afternoon so he used the dry morning practice to prepare the car for qualifying, setting the third best time in LMP2. Heavy rain after free practice left the track damp at the start of qualifying but Franck did a good job to put Signatech-Nissan in the fight for a podium this afternoon.
Franck said: “It has been a good weekend for us so far and I have been encouraged by the car’s pace in free practice and qualifying. We managed to get a lot of laps completed in practice and Saturday morning’s session was used to prepare the car for qualifying. I was third quickest in that session which demonstrates our capabilities for the race. I am happy with the solid work we have completed on our race pace. There was some rain before qualifying which left the track damp but we coped well and sixth place is reasonable for what promises to be a good race.”
