FRANCK MAILLEUX EMBARKS ON NEXT STINTS AS SIGNATECH-NISSAN MAKES LMP2 PROGRESS
Signatech-Nissan LMP2 driver Franck Mailleux has just begun his next stints at the helm of the Nissan-powered Oreca 03 car as the team hunts down the leading positions in class.
The safety car was brought out for a one hour period following a collision involving an LMP1 car in the early evening. The intervening period meant that Signatech-Nissan drivers Olivier Lombard and Jordan Tresson were able to maintain an overall position in the top 15 and to continue the team’s fight back for a leading position in the LMP2 class.
Before Franck took over from Tresson at just after midnight local time, he said: “I am looking forward to getting back on track in the Signatech-Nissan Oreca 03 and to continue the good work that we have carried out since the start of the race. The safety car period was long and we obviously wish our best to those drivers involved in the crash, but we are now back racing and looking to hint down the LMP2 cars in front of us, in order to improve our overall position. These night-time stages are crucial and it will be important to retain concentration and focus on the job in hand.”
