PIERRE RAGUES UNDERTAKES EXPLORATORY LAPS DURING WET LE MANS WARM-UP
Wet weather greeted Le Mans competitors for this morning’s warm-up session, the final opportunity to finalise car preparations before the 24 hour race gets underway this afternoon.
Following a sodden drivers’ parade in town yesterday evening, the rain continued into Saturday and made for tricky conditions in this morning’s 45-minute session.
Pierre completed just a handful of laps early on in the session to acclimatise himself to the difficult track conditions and to get a feeling for the behaviour of the G-Drive by Signatech-Nissan Oreca 03 in the wet and with Dunlop wet weather tyres.
The team will now finalise its car and crew ahead of the start this afternoon with Nelson Panciatici starting for the team and Pierre scheduled to drive second.
Pierre said: “We couldn’t really do much this morning other than getting a feeling for the car’s handling in the wet conditions. It will be interesting to see what the weather does for the rest of the day but if the track stays wet, I think we can expect a cautious start to the race as everyone gets a feeling for the conditions. Together with the team we will now go through our final preparations and look forward to the start in a few hours.”
