FRANCK MAILLEUX AIMS TO EXTEND LMP2 LEAD AT SILVERSTONE 6 HOURS
Signatech-Nissan driver Franck Mailleux is hoping to get the second phase of this season’s Intercontinental Le Mans Cup off to a competitive start with another LMP2 podium at this weekend’s Silverstone 6 Hours.
Franck has already celebrated three ILMC podiums in the LMP2 class with Signatech-Nissan this year following fine performances at the Sebring 12 Hours, the Le Mans 24 Hours and the most recent 6 Hours of Imola, which took place just before the summer break.
The Autosport 6 Hours of Silverstone marks the one year anniversary of the Intercontinental Le Mans Cup and this year plays host to both ILMC and Le Mans Series entrants, bringing together the crème de la crème of endurance racing in one thrilling event. Signatech-Nissan will be joined by an additional ten entries in the LMP2 class, which promises to offer a stern test of the team’s performance.
Franck has kept his fitness training to a high level over the summer break carrying out his usual training programme, his dietary regime which includes support from his personal sponsor Sojasun, as well as regular cycling in the south of France.
Signatech-Nissan has also worked hard to prepare its Oreca 03 chassis for this weekend’s Silverstone event, looking to maximise the competitive performance of the chassis, Nissan engine and Dunlop tyres in this fifth round of the seven-race series. A new look driver line-up for this race will see Franck and Lucas Ordonez joined by Frenchman Jean-Karl Vernay.
Franck Mailleux said: “Imola seems a long time ago now, so I am really looking forward to getting back in the cockpit of the Signatech-Nissan Oreca 03 at Silverstone. It is a circuit I really enjoy and which always brings out the best in me as a driver. Our objective is the same as it has been at the other races this season, which is to aim for the LMP2 podium and to get the maximum performance out of the car, tyres and ourselves. We are leading the ILMC LMP2 classification and have demonstrated the sheer pace of our car against tough competition. We know this weekend will be closely fought with some tough competitors but we are confident in our ability and fear no-one. I have used the summer break to keep my fitness levels high with a combination of indoor and outdoor training, including cycling. I’ve also had the usual dietary advice from my sponsors Sojasun, which is a big benefit. I am also looking forward to working with Jean-Karl this weekend and we welcome him to the team. Together, we will do all we can to fight for the podium and hopefully extend our championship lead a bit further.”
