PIERRE RAGUES CONCLUDES POSITIVE TWO-DAY TEST WITH OAK RACING AT BARCELONA
French racer Pierre Ragues has this week taken part in an important and productive two-day test session with the OAK Racing team at the Circuit de Catalunya in Barcelona in order to prepare for the forthcoming 6 Hours of Silverstone race.
Pierre was joined by his OAK Racing team mates Guillaume Moreau and Matthieu Lahaye, who returns to testing action following a period of recuperation after his qualifying accident at Spa earlier in the year. Over the two days of testing, the team amassed 250 laps with Pierre completing 44 on the first day and 76 on the second day.
OAK Racing are determined to get their 2011 season back on track after a difficult season so far. The positive outcome from this week’s test will give the team a much needed boost with the Silverstone round of this year’s Intercontinental Le Mans Cup taking place the week after next. Since the last ILMC round at Imola, the team has worked hard to find improvements to the OAK-Pescarolo in order to be ready for the Silverstone challenge.
During this usually quiet summer period, OAK Racing has had a busy few weeks, focussing efforts on the car to resolve the mechanical issues that have affected the team and Pierre’s season. With the original driver line-up and a lot of promising data from this week’s Barcelona test, the team is in the best shape possible heading to the UK and will be looking to get the #15 car to the chequered flag.
Pierre Ragues said: “I am very pleased with the outcome of this week’s Barcelona test which puts the entire team in a positive frame of mind before the next race at Silverstone. We achieved two days of trouble-free running and were able to complete a lot of laps, which is very encouraging after the difficulties we have faced this season. The weather was very hot, around 30°C for the two days, and we were able to carry out lots of positive work on traction control and Dunlop tyre testing, to gain some consistency in this area of performance. We also did some engine evaluation work while also looking at the set-up of the car to improve the understeer characteristic of our OAK-Pescarolo. It was also good to have Matthieu back with us and I hope together as a team we can look forward to a competitive and successful next phase of the season.”
