PIERRE RAGUES READY FOR SIGNATECH ALPINE MATMUT DEBUT AT PROLOGUE
Pierre Ragues will get his first taste of the Alpine A470 LMP2 car at this weekend’s Prologue, the traditional season-opener for the FIA World Endurance Championship (WEC).
This year’s Prologue will take place at the legendary Monza circuit in Italy. The high-speed 5.79km track will play host to the entire field of WEC vehicles, and offer Pierre the chance to re-acquaint himself with the Signatech Alpine Matmut team.
Pierre will line up in the No. 35 Alpine A470 alongside Nelson Panciatici, alongside whom he won the 2013 ELMS title with the team, as well as Brazilian André Negrão.
The team will have a total of five sessions, runs over two days and a combined 14 hours to work on the set-up of the car and Dunlop tyres. The team is preparing for its 2017 race debut at the 6 Hours of Spa-Francorchamps in May.
Pierre said: “The Prologue is always a nice way to start the WEC season, with a back to school feeling as all teams and drivers meet up for the first laps of the new year. Just days after announcing my return to the Signatech Alpine Matmut team, I am looking forward to getting behind the wheel of the Alpine A470 with Nelson and André. LMP2 has new regulations for this season with an enhanced power unit and new electronics, so it promises to be an exciting season. I haven’t driven at Monza for some time, and it’s a stunning track, which will allow us to really stretch the legs of our new car. We have lots of sessions, including one run at night, so it will give us plenty of opportunity to get up to speed and prepare for our 2017 campaign. I can’t wait!”
