PIERRE RAGUES TARGETS R5 WIN AS 2017 CAMPAIGN GETS UNDERWAY AT CÔTE FLEURIE Photo News
French race and rally ace Pierre Ragues will get his 2017 motorsport campaign up and running next weekend as he targets victory in the R5 class at the popular Rallye de la Côte Fleurie.

The nine-stage rally, in which Pierre took part last season, has proven a happy hunting ground for the Caen-born star. He was on competitive pace in last year’s event, winning the R5 category and finishing second overall, and will be aiming to show top form again in this year’s 47th running of the event.

Pierre will be lining up in a Skoda Fabia R5 alongside co-driver Julien Pesenti in his home event, where the duo will be facing stiff competition from some WRC competitors.

Pierre has taken advantage of the off-season period to hone his physical and technical skills thanks to a programme of testing, as well as simulation work with his partners at Ellip6 – in order to prepare for the forthcoming event and to ensure his 2017 season gets off to the best start possible. The Frenchman will also embark on an 11th season in endurance racing and hopes to be able to announce his new projects soon.

Pierre commented: “As has become tradition, I will be using Rallye de la Côte Fleurie as a way of starting my competitive season. It is a fantastic event, a home rally for me, and a great way to get back into driving mode. I look forward to being back in the driving seat of the excellent Skoda Fabia R5 alongside Julien, at an event where we found a good rhythm last year with a class win and second place overall. Victory in R5 is definitely the target again, even if we will have some WRC competitors to battle. This, for me, proves the high level of this rally and why it is such an important place for me to start what we plan to be a busy season. I am delighted, once again, to have the support of Sparco, Top Garage and my friends at GroupAuto; their support is invaluable as we start another season”
