COUNTDOWN TO LE MANS BEGINS WITH SCRUTINEERING DAY
Pierre and Larbre Competition have begun the countdown to this year’s 24 Hours of Le Mans with the traditional administrative checks and scrutineering at Place de la République this afternoon.
Larbre’s time slot was 3pm with the scrutineering of the #50 Chevrolet Corvette C7.R taking 45 minutes. The technical inspection examined all aspects of Pierre and the team’s 2016 racer, which has already secured two FIA World Endurance Championship podiums this season, to ensure full conformity to the technical regulations.
While being a formal inspection, it also acts as a wonderful opportunity for the entire town to get in the spirit of the Le Mans 24 Hours race – and for drivers and team members to soak up the atmosphere.
It was a literal soaking for the fans this year as wet weather conditions dominated the day. But the rain didn’t dampen spirits or the anticipation at the season’s biggest race approaches.
The 84th running of the prestigious Le Mans event will take place next weekend from Saturday to Sunday 3pm. Free practice will get underway on Wednesday with three qualifying practices scheduled, including the all important night sessions.
Before that, the drivers have the official photo and autograph session on Tuesday, so there’s plenty to keep Pierre busy ahead of his tenth participation in the classic event.
