Pierre Ragues will look to continue his strong start to the 2016 FIA World Endurance Championship at round two of the season, the 6 Hours of Spa-Francorchamps, which takes place at the legendary Belgian circuit this week.

 

Pierre will be hoping for a repeat of the class podium result scored at Silverstone just a few weeks ago. Along with Larbre Competition team-mates Paolo Ruberti and Yutaka Yamagishi, Pierre showed grit and determination in the season-opener to finish in third place with the #50 Chevrolet Corvette C7-R.

 

The performance of the team as a whole, and the Corvette, made for a strong start to Pierre’s first ever season as a GT racer, in his tenth year of endurance racing. Pierre is no stranger to the rigours of the Spa-Francorchamps circuit, which is among one of the favourite tracks of racers and fans around the world.

 

There’s unlikely to be a repeat of the snow that fell during Silverstone weekend but the weather at Spa will still likely play an influential factor with rain often making an appearance at the track. Teams will need to be prepared with a range of tyres and for rapidly changing track conditions. 

 

Pierre finished on the podium in Spa twelve months ago, so will be pushing for a second consecutive top-three finish as the team uses this event as important preparations for the 24 Hours of Le Mans in June. 

 

Pierre said: “We had such a positive weekend at the season-opener in Silverstone, I can’t wait to get back behind the wheel of the Chevrolet Corvette C7-R in Spa. I’ve managed to compete in a French Rally Championship event since Spa so I’ve kept my competitive instincts strong. Like many drivers, Spa is one of my favourite tracks and it’s always a pleasure to drive there. I finished on the LMP2 podium at Spa last year, so it has happy memories for me. There are so many famous corners and sections to the circuit that are very rewarding from a driving point of view to get right. I am sure the Corvette will be stunning to drive there. Along with Paolo and Yutaka, we’ll be doing all we can to push for another podium. This is the final six-hour race before Le Mans, so we’ll be using the weekend to work on a few things ahead of the big race in June. It promises to be a fun event.
