PIERRE RAGUES AIMS FOR STRONG FINISH TO 2015 WEC SEASON IN BAHRAIN Photo News
Pierre Ragues will contest the final round of the 2015 FIA World Endurance Championship with Team SARD Morand this weekend, as the popular French racer aims to finish his latest endurance campaign on a high.

Pierre will again line up in the #43 Morgan Evo Sard alongside Oliver Webb and Chris Cumming with the trio hoping to secure a podium result and fourth place in the FIA Endurance Trophy for LMP2 Teams.

This season has allowed Pierre to put his years of endurance racing experience to good use with the team, as they have put together a consistent string of five top-five finishes in the past six races.

The team excelled around the Shanghai circuit last time out, finishing in a fighting fourth position – the team’s second best result of the year so far following a third place podium at their first event of 2015, the 6 Hours of Spa-Francorchamps.

Pierre has knowledge of the Bahrain International Circuit from his previous race in the LMP2 class back in 2012, and will put that to good use when free practice begins on the earlier than usual Thursday. With qualifying on Friday and the six-hour race on Saturday, it will be another action packed three-day WEC event for Pierre, whose eyes will be focused on a podium finish and helping the team to secure fourth in the Championship.

Pierre said: “Bahrain is an interesting track to drive and I am looking forward to the exciting day-night racing that this event offers. The #43 car has shown itself to be very fast and consistent, as well as reliable, so we hope that with some good fortune this weekend, we can end our 2015 WEC season in the same way it started – with a podium! It has been a competitive season for us and we have been among the quickest in the LMP2 category, and presenting ourselves as podium challengers at each event. We have five top-five results in the past six races, so there’s no reason why we can’t be on the pace again. We definitely want to chase down fourth place in the LMP2 championship for the team. We will use Thursday practice to reacquaint ourselves to the circuit layout and to adapt the Morgan Evo Sard and Dunlop tyres to the track conditions, which we expect to be hot. I will again have the much-valued support of my partners GroupAuto and Sparco, and I will enjoy working alongside Oliver and Chris. Of course, while our race focus will be on ending the season on a positive note, and hopefully on the podium, our thoughts will remain with all those affected by the terrible tragedy in Paris.”
