COMPETITIVE RUN TO FOURTH FOR PIERRE RAGUES AND TEAM SARD MORAND IN NÜRBURGRING 6 HOURS Photo News
Pierre Ragues has put in a stellar performance in this afternoon’s Nürburgring 6 Hour race, finishing on the edge of the LMP2 podium with a fine run to fourth place in class and tenth overall.

In very hot and sunny conditions in the Eifel region, Pierre along with his teammates Oliver Webb and Archie Hamilton were ready to show the outright performance potential of the #43 Morgan Evo SARD after making good improvements throughout practice.

Having qualified in fifth place in class on Saturday afternoon, the team was definitely up for a strong fight in this afternoon’s six-hour race at the Nürburgring, a new addition to this year’s FIA World Endurance Championship (WEC).

Webb was on starting duties for the team and enjoyed a trouble-free opening to the race to move up into fourth in class and 11th overall by the time he handed over to Pierre after two competitive stints.

Pierre was on equally fast pace when he took control of the #43 car. The French ace was among the quickest LMP2 drivers during his stints and was able to move the team closer to the podium fight, running as high as third in class during his run.

He handed the car over to new boy Hamilton with 2h30m remaining in the race. Hamilton performed well and was able to retain position before Webb assumed control to the chequered flag with a clean finish to a highly satisfying race for the Franck Muller sponsored team.

Pierre said: “It has been a fantastic day of WEC racing here at the Nürburgring with really hot and sunny conditions and an incredible atmosphere. We have had a lot of support from the German fans and as a team we have had a very pleasing race. The weekend did not get off to an easy start for us, and the weather was also quite dismal, but we have improved a lot as the weekend has developed. We had a good qualifying run and were hopeful of fighting for the podium. In the end, we finished in a still positive fourth place; we have fought hard and had a competitive six-hour race. I have been particularly pleased with my own driving today, and I was among the fastest drivers in LMP2 during my stints. The circuit was fun, the car felt nice to drive and the Dunlop tyres performed very well in the hot conditions. I could not have done any more. The team has done a great job – especially in the pit stops – and it has been wonderful to work with my teammates Oliver and Archie in this race. Thanks also to the team’s title sponsor Franck Muller, and my own personal partners Group Auto and Sparco. I am already looking forward to COTA.”
