PIERRE RAGUES AIMS TO EXTEND PODIUM RUN AT RALLYE LYON-CHARBONNIÈRES Photo News
Rising rally sensation Pierre Ragues will be hoping to continue his impressive run of rally performances at this weekend’s Rallye Lyon-Charbonnières, the second round of this year’s French Rally Championship, and scene of his rally debut twelve months ago.

Ragues has adapted quickly to rally life over the past year and is establishing himself as a bona fide star of the future, taking two podium results – one overall and one in class – in the two events of 2015 in which he has participated so far.

The 31-year-old Frenchman has acquainted himself with his Michelin-equipped Citroën DS3 R5 car, finishing on the podium and securing a class win at Rallye de la Côte Fleurie, before taking a class podium at the opening round of the French Rally Championship – Rallye du Touquet – last month.

Pierre, alongside co-driver Tibo Gorczyca, will now hope to translate those strong performances into another positive result at this weekend’s 67th running of Rallye Lyon-Charbonnières. The event marks one year since Pierre made his rally debut, demonstrating competitive pace and running in a podium position until cruelly being forced to retire in the penultimate stage.

Working with the Racing Service team, Pierre will contest 13 special stages over a total of 223.23km. The event will get underway with a shakedown on Thursday before the usual technical and administrative checks later that evening. Friday will see the competitors take part in four stages with the remaining nine stages run on a bumper Saturday. All in all, it offers Pierre, who is once again supported by Group Auto, Sparco, Top Garage and simulation experts Ellip6, a great opportunity to shine on a competitive rally stage.

Pierre commented: “Rallying has become a very important part of my career in the past year, and more than that, it is something I feel increasingly passionate about. I have had two great events so far in 2015 – Côte Fleurie and Le Touquet – and I hope to add to those fantastic experiences with another strong run at Lyon-Charbonnières this weekend. The Racing Service team run a professional operation and the Citroën DS3 R5 is a top car to rally. I have built up a good rapport with Tibo so we’re confident in our abilities – although we are still learning with every rally we run. This weekend will bring back great memories of my competitive rally debut last year, and although we were forced to stop before the end, we showed good pace – so I want to build on that this weekend.”
