PIERRE RAGUES READY FOR CHAMPIONSHIP FIGHT IN ELMS SEASON FINALE AT ESTORIL
The final round of the 2014 European Le Mans Series (ELMS) takes place at the Estoril Circuit in Portugal this weekend, with French racer Pierre Ragues still mathematically in the hunt for the championship title.
Ragues will once again join the NewBlood by Morand Racing team, driving the #43 Morgan Judd BMW LMP2 alongside Gary Hirsch and Christian Klien. The team was on impressive form in the previous round at Paul Ricard, taking a dominant victory at Pierre’s home race. It was the team’s first victory of the season and moved them up into third in the championship on 50 points.
Estoril will represent a new circuit for the ELMS and the 13-turn, 4.182km track will ensure an exciting end to this year’s championship. Pierre will hope to challenge for the victory at Estoril, as the team did at Paul Ricard, and to do all he can to help the team finish as high up the championship as possible.
Pierre commented: “I can’t believe we are already at the end of the season but Estoril promises to give us a very exciting finale. It has been a pleasure for me to be part of the NewBlood by Morand Racing line-up in this second part of the season and I feel we have a good momentum heading to this final race. We had a great weekend at Paul Ricard and were able to show the full potential of our package to win the race. We hope that our car will also suit Estoril so we can once again fight for the victory. The championship is still open and we have a mathematical chance of securing the title so we will do all we can to finish in the best possible position. I am used to the pressure of a championship fight and, based on my experiences in last year’s ELMS, in which I was fortunate to be part of the title winning team, I feel well prepared. With the support of my personal partners Group Auto and Sparco, I am ready to put up a strong fight.”
