SPARCO WRC DRIVERS ON FORM IN RALLY FRANCE ALSACE
M-Sport World Rally Team drivers Mikko Hirvonen and Elfyn Evans have finished Rallye de France Alsace in 5th and 6th positions after strong performances for the Sparco pair this weekend.
Wearing Sparco’s EXTREMA RS-10 overalls, the M-Sport duo both showed their podium potential during the French rally. Evans was unfortunate to experience an electrical issue on Friday but he refused to let that affect the rest of his rally in the M-Sport Fiesta RS WRC.
He posted very competitive times on Saturday and Sunday morning and eventually claimed seventh place during the final stage, just behind his team-mate. Both drivers gained an extra position on the final stage as a result of Robert Kubica’s retirement.
In WRC2, there were two Sparco drivers on the podium with Kevin Abbring taking the class win and Bernardo Sousa in third place. The result means that Sparco keeps up its strong presence on the WRC2 podium this season.
Sparco CEO Claudio Pastoris said: “It has been another solid performance for Sparco drivers in the World Rally Championship this weekend. M-Sport’s drivers have shown good pace, wearing our EXTREMA RS-10 overalls, while we have also seen Sparco on the WRC2 podium again thanks to Kevin Abbring’s win and Bernardo Sousa in third place. Most importantly today, everyone at Sparco is sending our thoughts to Jules Bianchi and the Marussia F1 Team.”
