SPARCO TEAMS SECURE 1-2 IN AUSTRIA AS ELMS TAKES CHARGE OF THE RED BULL RING Photo News
The fourth round of the 2014 European Le Mans Series proved to be a fantastic one for Sparco as two of its teams secured a tremendous 1-2 finish around the Red Bull Ring.

In hot conditions that played to the strengths of Sparco’s EXTREMA RS-10 and Superleggera overalls, the Sparco supported teams came to the fore with Signatech-Alpine taking the victory ahead of JOTA Sport.

The Signatech-Alpine squad, which is made up of drivers Paul-Loup Chatin, Nelson Panciatici and Oliver Webb, had a strong race to overcome a qualifying disadvantage, and now lead the ELMS standings with two races of the season remaining at Paul Ricard and Estoril.

JOTA Sport’s trio Filipe Albuquerque, Simon Dolan and Harry Tincknell, helped the team to follow-up its LMP2 win at Le Mans with another fine podium, having secured pole position for the four-hour spectacle. It was a thrilling battle for the victory today as the leading two teams were separated by just 15 seconds after the four hours.

The Superleggera race suits did their job well in the conditions to enable the drivers to focus on the racing as they tussled for positions and gave spectators an enjoyable ELMS battle around the 4.574km Red Bull Ring. The EXTREMA RS-10 suit was also in action today with Pierre Ragues as he was also embroiled in the podium battle early on before NewBlood by Morand Racing had to settle eventually for fifth place.

Sparco’s Motorsport Manager Daniela Vignale commented: “This was the final ELMS round for a few months as the series heads into its summer break but what a great result for Sparco’s teams. It was great to see Signatech-Alpine claim their first win of 2014 and to take the overall lead of the ELMS classification with two rounds remaining. Our Superleggera race suits are well experienced in the sorts of conditions faced in Austria this weekend so it was pleasing to see them also represented on the podium with JOTA Sport finishing in second: a Sparco 1-2. Well done also to Pierre Ragues for showing strong pace in his runs wearing our state-of-the-art EXTREMA RS-10, whose cooling capabilities have been advantageous in this weekend’s racing. We look forward to seeing the ELMS back in action in September where we hope to continue with Sparco-backed teams leading the way!”
