French racing driver Pierre Ragues will make a highly anticipated return to the world of rallying in two weeks’ time when he takes part in the 41st Rallye Aveyron Rouergue Midi-Pyrenees.

Pierre recently delivered an impressive performance at the Le Mans 24 Hours with the Larbre Competition team but he now resumes his rally commitments that delivered such success earlier in the year.

The 30-year-old will once again be co-driver by his father Marcel, joining forces with the Deslandes Sport team to put a Skoda Fabia S2000 car through its paces in the French Rally Championship event.

Taking place over two days of action on 11-12 July, the rally takes in a total of five unique stages, each run twice, over a total distance of nearly 220km. The opening day of four stages will see competitors run the Lassaic-Severac L’Eglise (12.85km) and Campouriez-Le Nayrac (35.45km) stages before contesting Tremouilles-Salmiech-Comps (15.9km), Cassagnes-Taurines (14.2km) and Luic-Moyrazes (31.5km) on the final day.

Pierre took part in the French Rally Championship event at Lyon-Charbonnières earlier in the year, demonstrating competitive pace and true podium potential. He also finished on the podium in the Rallye de la Côte Fleurie, part of the Coupe de France des Rallyes, so he will be hoping to be quickly back on the pace in the Skoda Fabia S2000 at Rouergue.

Pierre Ragues commented: “I am delighted to have the chance to return to rallying after my brief, but competitive return to endurance for the 24 Hours of Le Mans. When I drove in Lyon-Charbo earlier in the year, I felt very comfortable with the Skoda Fabia S2000 and the Deslandes Sport team, so I can’t wait to return to action with my father as co-driver. I feel very at home in rallying and although each event has its own challenges, I feel that we are up to the job. I am thankful to have the support of Sparco and Michelin, as well as my personal partners Group Auto, as we continue to follow a double path with rallying and endurance racing. Rallye Rouergue will be a great new challenge for me and I thoroughly look forward to it.
