PIERRE RAGUES SECURES “REGULARITÉ” PODIUM AND CLASS VICTORY IN TOUR AUTO OPTIC 2000
Pierre Ragues has tasted champagne after this week’s running of the classic Tour Auto Optic 2000 through France as he, alongside his co-driver and father Marcel Ragues, finished second overall and won their class in an A110 Berlinette 1600 S.
In a field of some 200 cars in this 23rd running of the legendary event, Pierre and Marcel were entered into the "Régularité" category, which itself was divided up into three sub-categories: low average, mid average and high average. The duo won their category and finished second overall, a marvellous result in the father and son’s third Tour Auto Classic.
For Pierre, who was taking part as an ambassador for the Alpine brand, the result is a continuation of the fine results he has delivered for Alpine. Moreover, it has been an enjoyable week for Ragues with fine weather during the week, a perfectly performing car and the ability to take in some luscious landscapes.
The duo even took in Circuit Paul Ricard, where Pierre was recently testing the Signatech-Alpine ELMS car, and enjoyed the fanfare finale in Marseille. There were plenty of Alpine fans along the route which made Pierre’s role as an Alpine ambassador even more special.
Pierre said: “For the third occasion, I have had the pleasure of taking part in this fantastic Tour Auto Optic 2000 event alongside my father. This year’s event was even more special since we have been acting as ambassadors for Alpine, and able to feel the support of so many Alpine fans along the way. To top things off, we have had a great result this year by taking a podium in the Regularité class and also winning our sub-group. We had fun on all days from the start in Paris to the race tracks, including Paul Ricard, and also the excellent finish in Marseille. It has been a great event with some fantastic competitors and very enjoyable. I’m grateful to Alpine for such a great car, the A110 Berlinette 1600 S.”
