It’s a family affair for Pierre Ragues this week as he joins his father Marcel for their second participation in the annual Tour Auto Classic road race.

For the second year running, Pierre and Marcel are at the helm of a 1960 Alfa Romeo Giulietta Sprint which will see them compete in a gruelling race of endurance starting from Paris.

The pair congregated with the other 250 participants at the Grand Palais in Paris on Monday before embarking on the opening stage to Orleans on Tuesday. The father and son duo will take in five stages over a distance of some 2,000km through Orleans, Vichy, Albi, Limoges and concluding in La Rochelle on Saturday.

Having finished in fourth place at the recent Silverstone 3 Hours, the Tour Auto event gives Pierre an ideal opportunity to keep his endurance skills fresh ahead of the next round of the European Le Mans Series at Imola in a few weeks’ time.

Pierre said: “We thoroughly enjoyed the Tour Auto event in 2012 and I am excited to be taking part again this year with my father. It is a tough but enjoyable event over the course of the week and we will enjoy reacquainting ourselves with the Alfa Romeo that gave us such joy in last year’s event. We set off in earnest on Tuesday and look forward to concluding the event in La Rochelle later in the week.”
