TOP KARTERS DEMONSTRATE MEDIA SKILLS AT QUADRA SPORTS TRAINING COURSE Photo News
Tony Kart and Kosmic karters Rick Dreezen, Luca Corberi and Armand Convers recently attended the Quadra Sports training course in Prevalle, Italy, and they have comprehensively proved that their media skills are just as accomplished as their skills behind the wheel.

They finished first, second and third respectively in a simulated exercise where they had to sell themselves to a team and its sponsors, demonstrating fluency in English, awareness of the business of motorsport and a fundamental grasp of public relations and marketing. These are all skills that will be vital if they are to achieve their goal of reaching the top of the sport.

Dreezen was the clear winner, marking himself out for a great career in the future. He was born only 10 kilometres from the Genk circuit in Belgium, so his destiny was clear from the beginning. Since 2010 he has been a professional karter for Tony Kart, where he has proved to be one of the most successful drivers in the squad. In 2011, he won the KZ1 class in the WSK Euro Series. Last year, a fantastic win at the Winter Cup and wins at the WSK Masters Series and Euro Series at Sarno were highlights, but bad luck in the second half of the season cost Rick a second title at the WSK Euro Series and podium finishes at the World Cup and European Championship.

Luca Corberi from Italy was the winner of the World Cup in the KF3 class in 2012 and the winner of the European Bridgestone Cup in the KF3 class 2011. In KF3 in 2010, he was second in the Asia-Pacific Championship. Despite his young age of only 15, he showed himself to be extremely accomplished and confident in the simulated exercise, demonstrating a level of assurance and spoken English that will stand him in very good stead for the future.

Because of that, he has already commanded the respect of his colleagues. Ange Pasquali, a former team manager for the Toyota Formula One team and the managing director of Quadra Sports commented: “Given his young age and comparative lack of experience, Luca was a strong contender to win the marketing contest overall. It was a really assured performance.”

In third place was Frenchman Armand Convers: another experience karter, who has benefitted from several years in the sport as well as the Quadra Sports training course in the past. Convers came to the Quadra Sports training course off the back of the Winter Cup, which he came close to winning. As one of the most senior figures in the sport with a string of trophies in his cabinet, he is a mentor and inspiration for the younger Kosmic karters coming up through the ranks.
