PIERRE RAGUES CONFIRMS SEVENTH LE MANS 24 HOURS ENTRY AND TEASES 2013 CAMPAIGN
French endurance racer Pierre Ragues has today confirmed his participation in this year’s 24 Hours of Le Mans, which is set to take place on 22 and 23 June.
Pierre will be competing with the Signatech LMP2 squad, whose #36 car was confirmed to join this year’s Le Mans event at a press conference in Paris earlier today.
It will be Pierre’s seventh Le Mans 24 Hours but will be particularly special as the event celebrates its 90th anniversary this year. Adding to the poignancy, Pierre will also be driving car #36 which was the same car number in which he contested his first Le Mans back in 2006.
Pierre has a prosperous relationship with Signatech dating back to 2009. The team celebrated a fine fourth place finish in last year’s Le Mans 24 Hours having been strong contenders for a podium finish. Pierre secured a third place finish in LMP2 at the event back in 2008, so he is no stranger to success around La Sarthe.
Pierre will continue to derive benefit from his long-standing partnership with Group Auto Union and will be announcing his full programme for the 2013 racing season in due course.
Pierre Ragues said: “I am delighted to be taking part in my seventh Le Mans 24 Hours this year, especially as it is the 90th anniversary of this legendary event. It has always played an important part in my racing career, even since my first participation back in 2006. It is very poignant this year because I will be racing in the #36 Signatech car, whose entry was confirmed at the press conference in Paris earlier, the same car number I raced with back in 2006. I treasure the memories from every year, but of course finishing on the podium in 2008 was special and I was proud of our achievements to finish so close to the podium last year. I am honoured to continue my relationship with Signatech and also my personal partners Group Auto Union. I have some exciting plans for the rest of the 2013 season which I look forward to sharing soon.”
