FRANCK MAILLEUX GETS A TASTE OF THE IMPRESSIVE NISSAN DELTAWING
The 2012 World Endurance Championship reached its conclusion two weeks ago but French race fans still have the chance to watch Signatech-Nissan driver Franck Mailleux in action on TV.
Franck was invited by Nissan to the Road Atlanta circuit in the US directly after the Fuji 6 Hours race to carry out some laps in the Nissan DeltaWing as part of a promotional run in front of some media. Footage from the run will be shown on French motorsport TV programme ‘Turbo’ on M6 tomorrow.
The DeltaWing has already made history by taking part in this year’s 24 Hours of Le Mans event but also registered a top five finish in the Petit Le Mans event at the Atlanta track. With half the weight, half the horsepower and half the aerodynamic drag of a typical Le Mans sports car, the Nissan DeltaWing has captured the imagination of fans and media alike, and now has a new fan in Franck Mailleux following his experience with the car.
Franck said: “I was very excited to get my first experience of the Nissan DeltaWing at the Road Atlanta track on the day after the 6 Hours of Fuji WEC event. It is a fantastic car and I was honoured to have the chance to drive it. I am thankful to Nissan for the chance to get behind the wheel of the DeltaWing, which has proven – quite justifiably – to be one of the most exciting automotive and motorsport concepts ever made. I hope I have the chance to drive it again someday.”
