PIERRE ON THE PACE IN OSTRICOURT KARTING
Pierre Ragues enjoyed a strong weekend of karting at Ostricourt last weekend as he took part once again the KZ2 category of the Grand Prix Open Karting. It was the third race weekend of the five that make up the 2012 French karting championship.
Pierre, who uses karting to keep his race craft honed in between rounds of the World Endurance Championship, set a competitive pace all weekend finishing in the top three in both finals.
Having posted the second quickest time in Saturday’s warm-up session, Pierre went on to go second in the timed session, second in the pre-final and second in the final itself despite the wet conditions.
On Sunday, he continued this pace and was second in the timed session. Unfortunately a problem prevented him from taking any meaningful part in the pre-final but he made up for the disappointment with a fine drive to third place in the Sunday final.
Pierre said: “As always, it was a competitive field at Ostricourt and we had to contest with varied weather conditions. I was pleased with my performances over the weekend and, apart from Sunday’s pre-final in which I could not register a single lap, I had good results in the top three. I was able to fight hard on Saturday for second place in the pre-final and final, and I scored third place in the final on Sunday afternoon. The results mean that I am now third overall in the KZ2 championship after the three events so far.”
