Signatech-Nissan driver Franck Mailleux is preparing for his fourth consecutive participation in the prestigious 24 Hours of Le Mans and the Frenchman is expecting a close fight in the competitive LMP2 category.

The first markers for competitive pace will be laid down at this weekend’s official test day, which takes place at the La Sarthe circuit on Sunday 3 June with all Le Mans entrants expected to take part, including both Signatech-Nissan cars. Franck will again be at the helm of the #23 car alongside team-mates Jordan Tresson and Olivier Lombard.

The team carried out a one day test at Magny-Cours on Tuesday in order to carry out some preparatory systems checks on the Oreca 03, Nissan engine and Dunlop tyres. Although Franck did not take part in the one day test, he has a lot of experience to draw from the season so far following the races at Sebring and Spa.

Le Mans is without doubt the highlight of the endurance racing season and represents the most gruelling challenge of man and machine. Franck and the Signatech-Nissan team have happy memories from last year’s event in which they claimed LMP2 pole position and second in class at the conclusion of the 24 hour race. A similar performance at this year’s event, round three of the new World Endurance Championship, would help turn around the team’s fortunes this season.

The official test day on Sunday will run from 09.00-13:00 and again from 14:00-18:00 giving teams and drivers a full eight hours in which to prepare themselves for what will be the biggest, highest profile endurance event of the year.

Franck Mailleux commented: “We have carried out a few tests already in order to best prepare ourselves for the challenges of Le Mans. I was part of a big Signatech-Nissan test at Magny-Cours earlier in May, which took place immediately after Spa. The team then had a day’s testing earlier this week and although I did not drive, I understand that a lot of useful checks were carried out. I am looking forward to getting back behind the wheel of the #23 Signatech-Nissan on Sunday for the official Le Mans test day. It’s an exciting prospect returning to Le Mans, the scene of one of our most enjoyable results last season, and feeling the excitement grow ahead what is the highlight event of the year. We have a big check list of items to go through, so we’ll be hoping for plenty of track time and some good weather!”
