PIERRE RAGUES READY FOR FIRST PRACTICE AFTER USEFUL WET TEST IN CHINA Photo NewsPierre Ragues is all set for the final race of this season’s Intercontinental Le Mans Cup which gets underway in earnest with first free practice at the Zhuhai International Circuit on Friday.

Along with all other teams lining up for the 6 Hours of Zhuhai, Pierre and the OAK Racing team were given a useful opportunity to test around the 4.03km Chinese circuit on Wednesday.

Heavy rain left both morning and afternoon session wet but the track time was particularly useful for those drivers, like Pierre, for whom this weekend’s event is the first trip to Zhuhai.

There will be additional opportunities in free practice to continue work on car set-up and tyre evaluation in order for the team to prepare the LMP1 OAK-Pescarolo to its maximum potential ahead of qualifying and the race itself.

Pierre, though, found Wednesday’s track time useful and will also have the benefit of the team’s insight and experience as the weekend continues. OAK Racing won the LMP2 class in last year’s Zhuhai event, securing them the ILMC crown for 2010, so the circuit holds fond memories for the team and Pierre is hoping to continue that trend this weekend.

Pierre Ragues said:
“I was really satisfied with the outcome of our test day on Wednesday in spite of the wet conditions. Obviously we would have preferred it dry in order to maximise my understanding of the track and for us to work on the car set-up. Nonetheless, we worked hard and had the chance to evaluate Dunlop wet and intermediate tyres, as well as looking at the behaviour of the OAK-Pescarolo in these conditions. I had 27 laps in the car which gave me a good feeling for the circuit and I look forward to continuing this in free practice. It’s good to have some local support in the form of Ohing who are joining Group Auto Union as my personal backers for this weekend.”
