PIERRE RAGUES CONTINUES POSITIVE MOMENTUM FOR OAK RACING WITH ATLANTA POINTS Photo NewsFrench racer Pierre Ragues cemented the positive progress made by OAK Racing in this second part of the 2011 Intercontinental Le Mans Cup with another fine points performance at Road Atlanta last weekend, his first ever race around the legendary track. Pierre is aiming to use the results as a springboard for a positive final flourish as the second draws to a close in China in November.

Quick Q+A with Pierre Ragues

Pierre, to what extent were you happy with your performance in Atlanta?

“Concerning my own personal performance, I was really pleased, especially when we were in the top four overall. I had some very competitive stints in the OAK-Pescarolo and I was able to demonstrate that perfectly in the final few laps of the race by making up an important position after the technical difficulties had moved us back down the field. We had a very strong race actually but it was a shame we were denied a top four finish after a damper problem forced us into a lengthy pit stop during my final stint.”

Were you confident of the top four without that damper problem?

“Absolutely! I felt good in the car and we had built up a good rhythm with Guillaume and Matthieu performing strongly in their stints, so the fourth place was ours for the taking. In that regard, the damper problem was extremely frustrating but we have to draw the positives from the race and take a second consecutive finish with good points. We know we have more to give so I am thankful we have the race in China to do just that.”

How is the motivation within the team to end the season on a high?
“The OAK Racing guys have worked immensely hard to get our season back on track and as a team we never give up, even when things are not going in our favour. We had a good race at Silverstone and a very positive performance at Road Atlanta, so I am quite confident we can continue in this way at the final race of the season and hope to position ourselves again near the front, and in any case as the top petrol car. We have all the elements in place to do that and I’d like to bring this season to a successful end for the team, our partners and my personal sponsors Group Auto Union.”
