ENCOURAGING PRE-EVENT TEST TIMES FOR FRANCK MAILLEUX AT ROAD ATLANTA Photo NewsFranck Mailleux and the Signatech-Nissan team made a positive start to their Petit Le Mans preparations with a successful two days of testing at the circuit alongside the rest of the competition.

The Nissan-powered Oreca 03 registered competitive lap times at the top end of the LMP2 classification as Signatech-Nissan look to take the next important step in their 2011 championship charge.

Franck completed a lot of running on the team’s first day, although wet conditions in the morning resulted in minimal track activity from other cars. In spite of the poor morning weather, it was a trouble-free and useful day for Franck to get acquainted with the Road Atlanta course. The afternoon session was dry and allowed the team to look at car set-up and Dunlop tyre evaluation.

The second day was equally positive although it was Franck’s team-mates Jean-Karl Vernay and Lucas Ordonez who did the bulk of the driving. Generally, though, the test delivered precisely the results that the team and Franck desired with official practice due later today.

Franck Mailleux: “I had a good couple of days in the car preparing for the weekend that lies ahead of us. We completed quite a lot of laps which allowed me to acclimatise to this new track for me and to begin initial set-up of the car. Our main championship rivals are also looking in good shape, but it is going to be a long race so we just need to stay focussed and get the best out of ourselves. I am looking forward to what promises to be a fun event.”
