FIRST TASTE OF ROAD ATLANTA FOR PIERRE RAGUES IN OFFICIAL PRE-EVENT TEST Photo NewsPierre Ragues and the OAK Racing team have begun their preparations for this weekend’s Petit Le Mans event at Road Atlanta with two days of testing at the circuit.

Pierre, driving the #15 LMP1 OAK-Pescarolo with Guillaume Moreau and Matthieu Lahaye, was able to get his first taste of the circuit layout and to make himself comfortable in the car. The team focussed on car set-up and tyre evaluation around Road Atlanta’s demanding layout which includes a number of challenging corners and blind bends, most notably the feared ‘Turn1’.

The team experienced some power steering problems that have been attributed largely to the challenging first turn where lateral forces reach 3.5G. However, the team has been pleased with the overall performance of the car and will be looking to follow up the positive result from Silverstone.

Pierre Ragues: “It has been good to get my first experience of the Road Atlanta course, which is fun to drive and very challenging. The two days of testing allowed us to begin the process of learning the track and also setting up the OAK-Pescarolo before the race weekend itself. It has been extremely hot so we have carried out some work on tyres with Dunlop, while also checking the car’s systems. We had some power steering issues that we are working on resolving but we have still achieved a lot, so can head into the weekend confident of fighting to be top petrol car and continuing the progress we made at Silverstone.”
