FRANCK MAILLEUX READY FOR LE MANS START AFTER FINAL WARM-UP SESSION Photo NewsFranck Mailleux has this morning completed his final warm-up preparations for this year’s 24 Hours of Le Mans which gets underway this afternoon. Franck, together with his Signatech-Nissan team-mates Lucas Ordonez and Soheil Ayari, carried out a thorough final check of all systems on their Oreca 03 during this morning’s 45 minute session.

Using the “warm-up” session in the truest sense of the term, the team conducted several short runs as they finalised their preparations for the tough 24 hour challenge that awaits them. Franck will take the start for Signatech-Nissan from LMP2 pole position this afternoon following competitive qualifying sessions on Thursday, and will be hoping to chase an LMP2 podium over the course of the gruelling event.

The drivers kept busy during Friday in spite of there being no track action, joining all the other drivers that make up the 2011 Le Mans grid at the traditional drivers’ parade in front of an immense crowd of passionate fans. The only thing that is now out of the hands of the teams is the weather which although looking fine for the rest of Saturday still poses a risk of rain for Sunday.

Franck Mailleux said:
“This morning’s warm-up was used to carry out our final preparations and a detailed systems check of the Signatech-Nissan Oreca 03 before we start the race this afternoon. We will now have a final debrief with the team in order to plan our strategy but we are confident. Starting from pole, there will be extra focus on our team and on me, but the start of this race is something special and I can’t wait. We already had a first experience of the fans’ support in yesterday’s drivers’ parade which is always an amazing feeling for us drivers. I am feeling fit and up to the challenge, so now, I’m ready to go racing!”
