ELLIP6 JUNIOR TEAM MAKES STEPS FORWARD IN “CHARBO” RALLY
The Ellip6 Junior Rally Team enjoyed a generally positive two days as the Rally Lyon-Charbonnières drew to its conclusion on Saturday evening. Drivers Dorian Nicolas and Kevin Coste successfully completed all 14 stages of the 230.61km event, finishing third and fourth quickest of the Renault Twingo R1s amongst a competitive field.
Conditions were ideal for the “Charbo” event with sunshine greeting the teams and drivers throughout the two days. Dorian ended the event as the highest ranked of the Ellip6 drivers and ranked third best of the Twingo R1s with Kevin marginally further back and fourth best Twingo R1.
Both drivers acquitted themselves professionally and with a deliberately measured approach to their debut season with the Ellip6 squad. The objectives of their participation in this event were to accumulate more experience in competition and to build upon the foundations laid in last month’s Le Touquet event.
Alongside their respective co-pilots, the drivers took part in four special stages on Friday, setting a solid base. The drivers made good advances through the field on a busy Saturday which saw them contest ten stages over a near 12 hour period of rallying.
For Ellip6, the “Charbo” rally was close to a home event, being located as close to their Pierrelatte simulation centre as any other event of the year, and gave them a wonderful opportunity to showcase their business activities to fans and guests.
One of the company’s state-of-the-art six-axis simulators was situated in the Stade de Gerland on Friday, to the enjoyment of rally spectators. In addition, Ellip6 also hosted guests, including representatives from Lyon-based Societe ACTUA with whom the company is forging a close relationship. Guests from both companies were invited to Lyon for a special pre-rally event to get a taste of the Ellip6 simulators. All in all, “Charbo” was another great event for the Ellip6 Junior Rally team!
President of Ellip6, Pierre Tantot: “This was our second event of the year and effectively the closest thing that Ellip6 gets to a home rally. We certainly made the most of it with our drivers Dorian and Kevin producing another solid and consistent performance across 14 tough stages. Like Le Touquet, we asked the drivers to focus on completing the stages and simply to add to their experience. We also welcomed some guests from Ellip6 and Lyon based company Societe ACTUA during the event, as well as offering spectators the chance to try out our six-axis rally simulators in a genuine rally atmosphere. It was a great event and perfect occasion for Ellip6 to become even more integrated into the world of competitive rallying.”
Dorian Nicolas: “We can look back on this Charbo rally pleased with our performance. We achieved our objectives which were to work on the consistency with the Twingo and to gain more overall experience. The weather was great and we did not run into many problems, so there are lots of positive things to reflect on. The team were a big help, as they were in Le Touquet, and I feel I am learning all the time. Thanks also to Ellip6 for the opportunity to participate in these events.”
Kevin Coste: “Charbo was another fantastic experience for me and after Le Touquet gave me another opportunity to learn about the car, the team and about tough competition. We were focussed on completing each stage and not making mistakes, which we achieved, so I am pleased. We were fourth of the Twingo R1s but as we get more experience, I am sure we will see improvements in our performances. Thanks again to the team and to Ellip6 for their hard work and support.”
Next round for the Ellip6 Junior Rallye Team, Rallye Limousin 2-4 June.
