FRANCK MAILLEUX DOMINATES LMP2 TESTING AT SEBRING Photo NewsFranck Mailleux and the Signatech-Nissan team set the benchmark pace in LMP2 during pre-event testing for this weekend’s 12 Hours of Sebring in their first ever run at the demanding Sebring track.

The test was the first occasion for Franck and the team to master the circuit before the race weekend gets underway in earnest with practice on Thursday, heralding the start of this year’s Intercontinental Le Mans Cup (ILMC) campaign.

Franck, alongside his team-mates, carried out a number of important pre-event checks with their Signatech-Nissan LMP2 car and showed an impressive consistency in lap times over the two days with a best of 1:55.626 in Monday’s session and 1:55.627 on Tuesday. Although the team was not looking for laptimes, the initial pace demonstrates solid potential for the weekend ahead.

Franck said: “We were able to achieve 650km of running on Monday which was pretty good for the car’s first run at Sebring. We had a few problems with the steering wheel and the throttle cable but we were able to find a quick solution. It was nice to be fastest in LMP2 on both days, even if laptimes are not too relevant at this early stage of the week. Finally, I would like to extend my wishes to everyone affected by the recent tragic events in Japan.”

Official practice for the 59th Twelve Hours of Sebring gets underway from Thursday with the race itself running from 10.30am-10.30pm local time on Saturday.
