INAUGURAL SHAKEDOWN FOR FRANCK MAILLEUX AS SEASON OPENER APPROACHES Photo NewsIntercontinental Le Mans Cup (ILMC) driver Franck Mailleux has this week carried out the first shakedown in preparation for the 2011 ILMC season opener that takes place at Sebring International Raceway in just over two weeks’ time.

The legendary 12 Hours of Sebring will be the first challenge of the season for Franck and the Nissan-powered Signature team, as they embark on their first season in LMP2 in the truly international ILMC series under the team name Signatech-Nissan.

Signature last month announced a high-profile technical and commercial collaboration with Nissan Europe that will see the Japanese automotive manufacturer embark on a two-year partnership with the French racing firm through supply of its NISMO VK45V8 engines.

The Signatech-Nissan team completed 20 laps with the new car around the 3.8km configuration of Circuit Paul Ricard in the South of France on Wednesday. Franck carried out a thorough check of all chassis and engine components, electronics systems and Dunlop tyres, as well as making himself at home in the car.

Franck was pleased to begin the final countdown to the new season: “It is always good to get behind the wheel of a new car and this was no exception. We only drove around 20 laps, but it was important to shakedown the car and to make sure that everything is working well before the cars are sent by freight to the USA for our first race of the year at Sebring. We also took the opportunity to create a new seat for me and to just make everything comfortable. It was also the first chance for me to get to know my new team-mate Lucas Ordoñez. The team is really motivated and the recently announced backing of Nissan Europe gives us an extra boost.”
