GRAVEL RUN FOR RISING STAR CAMPANA Photo News

Pierre Campana will make his first appearance in a rally car on gravel when he drives one of the course-opening zero cars on the Rallye Terres du Vaucluse in France this weekend (13-14 November).

The 25-year-old Corsican star established a formidable reputation as an asphalt expert when he finished third in the Junior World Rally Championship section of Rallye de France in 2008. Since then he has focussed on sealed-surface events, predominantly at the wheel of a Renault Clio R3.

As well as gaining useful experience of driving on gravel, his appearance on the event near Avignon in the south of France will give him the opportunity to show his appreciation to sponsor Ellip6. The simulator company is a partner of the event and its headquarters are based close to the rally route.

"I don't have any experience of driving on gravel so I can't wait to try it out," said Campana, who will pilot his regular Clio R3 alongside co-driver Sabrina de Castelli. "It's also a good opportunity to carry the colours of Ellip6 and show my appreciation for everything they have done for me."

Rallye Terres du Vaucluse gets underway on the morning of Saturday 13 November with the finish due the following afternoon, Sunday 14 November. Saturday's schedule features three stages run twice with Sunday's route over two stages run twice. Crews won't be made aware of the stage layout until they are issued with their copy of the roadbook on Saturday morning.
