Pierre concluded the 2010 Grand Prix Open Karting season in triumphant style at Laval last weekend, taking the KZ2 Vice Champion title after finishing fourth in Saturday’s final.

Pierre had been dominant in Friday’s practice session and looked in good shape to take the second place in the championship but Saturday was a difficult day for the young French star. In the timed session, he was down in ninth place, but recovered some ground in the pre-final to take fifth spot. In the race itself, further progress saw Pierre take the chequered flag in fourth place – and enough to secure his second position in the championship with a day of racing still remaining.

With the Vice Champion title already secured, the pressure was off Pierre for the final day of GPO action in 2010. A slow start to Sunday with 13th place in warm-up was quickly turned around with 6th place in the timed session and a brilliant second in the pre-final. The final itself saw Pierre continue his competitive pace to retain second place in the race – a great finish to a great season!

Pierre said: “I was really pleased to take the Vice Champion title at Laval at the weekend. It was not the easiest of weekends but I did everything I needed to and came away with the results I needed. I had a good run on Saturday to take fourth, which was enough to consolidate my second place in the standings, but coming second in the pre-final and final on Sunday was a great way to end this season. Carrying out karting alongside my other racing activities is such a perfect way to keep my race craft sharp and focussed. It’s been a great season and this leaves me wanting even more karting and racing success in 2011!”
