PIERRE RAGUES TRIUMPHS IN WET AND DRY AT OSTRICOURT
French racing star Pierre Ragues enjoyed a hugely successful weekend of karting action at Ostricourt last weekend, truly dominating the field in the KZ2 class of the French Karting Championships.
Pierre, who only two weeks ago brought his 2010 Le Mans Series championship to a positive conclusion, continued his competitive streak by winning both pre-final and final in Saturday and Sunday’s action at the French track. It was a challenging weekend for the karting stars as they tackled wet, damp and fully dry track conditions over the two-day event.
Pierre made a solid start on a wet track with a third place in the first warm-up session on Saturday, followed up by fourth place in the timed session. But when the track had dried out significantly, Pierre showed his real potential with an excellent performance in the pre-final that set him up for a great victory in the final itself. Standing atop the podium in a Bridgestone winners cap, the Frenchman was clearly revelling in his glory.
Sunday brought an even greater level of performance from Pierre, in even worsened conditions, as rain set in for the duration of the day’s racing. Nonetheless, Pierre battled to take top honours in the timed session, pre-final and final to make his second trip to the top step of the podium on successive days.
Pierre has always kept true to his karting roots and passion even throughout his successful Le Mans campaign, and his competitive performances in Ostricourt have seen him elevated into second position overall in the KZ2 championship, taking 60 points from the championship leader’s advantage.
Pierre said: “It is always good to get behind a kart in a competitive race and last weekend at Ostricourt was no exception. I was able to find a good rhythm around the track and with the Sodi kart and Bridgestone tyres. The weather was a bit unpredictable at times and it was fun to race in both wet and dry conditions. It was a great feeling to be standing on top of the podium in both finals and to take such a big collection of points!”
